Last year, he premiered his fifth stand-up special on Netflix and he has 4 (!) more coming up with the popular streaming service: an unprecedented deal. The album version , Cinco, skyrocketed to the top of the comedy charts, with impressive reviews like “one of our most intelligent observational humorists ever”.
And this autumn promises to bring Gaffigan closer to his audience than ever. He features in Chappaquiddick, a film that follows the story revolving around Senator Ted Kenned, a tragic car accident and an ensuing cover-up. As well as the extensive international Fixer Upper tour which will make halt in Belgium, while also visiting China, Japan, England, Canada, France, Denmark, Sweden, etc.
Besides an impressive movie-career (Chuck, You Can Choose Your Family, Drunk Parent’s, Duck Duck Goose), Gaffigan recently also wrapped up his and his wife’s Jeannie critically acclaimed semi-fictitious television show, The Jim Gaffigan Show. The series revolved around one man’s struggle to balance fatherhood, stand-up comedy and an insatiable appetite.
In 2014, Gaffigan became one of the only ten comics in history to sell out Madison Square Garden and a few months earlier performed for Pope Francis. His name and shows feature in all possible success-lists: highest grossing, most-streamed, the top of the comedy charts on iTunes and an ‘occasional’ Grammy etc. Add his bestselling books Dad is Fat and Food: A Love Story and you can imagine the man is one of the hottest comedians of the moment with an extraordinary nose for hilarious and relatable material.
There seems to be a common thread in his television, movie and stand-up work: engaging humor, fueled by everyday situations. His current residency in New York with his 5 kids and wife is an everlasting source of inspiration, which excites audiences all over the world.
